Ingredients
- 1 cup whole-wheat flour or use all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup dried fruit like raisins, cranberries or bits of apricot
- or mango
- ¼ cup margarine or butter, melted
- ⅔ cup buttermilk
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Combine the flours, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl. Mix well.
- Add the dried fruit and mix lightly.
- In a small bowl, combine the melted margarine or butter and buttermilk.
- Add the liquids to the dry ingredients and mix gently.
- On a greased baking sheet, spoon the dough into 9 equal mounds.
- Bake until golden brown, 18 to 20 minutes.
- Serve hot or at room temperature.
